In 1934 his company became known as LEGO, from the Danish “leg godt” which, translated literally, means “play well”.
After years of research and development, it was only in 1958 that LEGO began producing the “plastic interlocking building blocks”, that they are famous for and that have been loved by every generation since then.
There are LEGO toys, robots, video games, tv shows, theme parks and movies. There is even LEGO art!
Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen’s, the grandson of LEGO’s founder, is now one of the richest men in the world ($6.5 billion in 2009 – Forbes).
